This theme draws on a few different influences. The main one is probably the OS9 Dimples theme by [Need to look up the author's name], but it's pretty different from that. The basic idea is that the title-bar texture is either embossed (Boss) or inset (Punktate) points.

Originally I was going to try to do this as an Aurorae theme but I couldn't figure out how to get aurorae to tile the center pixmap (yes, I did try "hint-tile-center"). However, I still thought it could maybe work under Smaragd, at least in some respect. The Smaragd version does things a little different to work around Smaragd bugs, specifically:

  • The corners are no longer as rounded because that looks awful in full screen due to a bug
  • there is no separate title pixmaps, because Smaragd doesn't support that (even thoug I have heard it did under KDE4)
    • The texture highlights are less pronounced as the lack of support for text outlines and title pixmaps would otherwise inhibit readability. Seems like this was not really a problem with the Platinum colors though, so those are unchanged
    • I haven't made a boss version because I think the embossed texture without the title pixmap would lead to cognitive dissonance. I might still do this at some point, though.
